Employer Solutions

Through the Employer Solutions pillar, ONESTEP assists Job Developers in community-based employment and training agencies to effectively assist employers in finding and retaining great employees. In a turbulent labour market impacted by major and interactive factors such as technology, demography, global markets and social equity imbalances, new methods of employer engagement are increasingly important if our sector is to remain relevant. This critical customer group must be given equal attention to that provided to job seekers.

To achieve this, Employer Solutions focuses on understanding and responding to supply/demand challenges and managing customer relationships in new ways. Job Developers are the bridge between employer requirements and expectations and the work done to prepare qualified candidates for job vacancies.

As the economy and labour market evolve, so to must the role and practices of job development as an essential employment service.

ONESTEP has developed a number of tools to assist Job Developers and employers

RAISE is designed to assist small to medium sized employers recruit and retain qualified Internationally Trained Workers (ITWs), providing quick access to useful and effective online tools and resources. These tools, although designed to assist in recruitment of ITWs, are universally helpful in the recruitment process.

Mind the Gap was an Ontario Labour Market Partnership Project partnering with Workforce Planning Boards in Windsor, Essex, Elgin, Middlesex, Oxford, Huron, Bruce, Grey and Perth Counties, and Chambers of Commerce in Windsor Essex and Owen Sound, plus ATN Access for Persons with Disabilities and the London Economic Development Corporation.

The Project goal was to explore both the demand and supply side of the skills gap/mismatch challenge and identify best response practices and partnership models. The focus was on business-led partnerships encouraging skills gap interventions.

The project produced a research document Comparator Research on Business Led Skills Gap Response Strategies and Related Best Practices in Recruitment, two PowerPoint presentations Best Practices in Job Development and Learning from and Collaborating with For Profit Employment Services, and two videos Meeting the Demand and Best Practices in Job Development
