Policies and Procedures
Policies and procedures impart the required guidance for managers and employees to carry out the organization's activities, and for ensuring that these activities are consistent with its mission, vision and values. You can think of policies and procedures in terms of establishing a foundation for efficient, effective and productive operations. Moreover, a good set of policies and procedures reduce the likelihood of misunderstanding and make everyone more comfortable because rules and expectations are clearly articulated and can be referred to as needed. Without the operational infrastructure and guidelines that up-to-date policies and procedures provide, your organizational may achieve suboptimal outcomes or be at risk for more serious legal consequences.
ONESTEP has requested project funding to develop a set of sample policies and procedures relevant to not-for-profit community-based employment and training agencies. In the meantime, there are many good resources available online that can help you develop or update your organization’s policies and procedures.
