Heather McMillan

President, ONESTEP

Welcome Note

On behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff of ONESTEP, we are excited to be hosting you for our 2019 Leadership Retreat at Kingbridge Convention Centre. This unique venue and conference approach have allowed us to respond to members’ requests to focus on team building and collaboration.

Transformation is the hot topic this year and we have responded by offering learning opportunities with representatives from BC, NS, the UK, and the US. These guests will help us bring additional content from jurisdictions who have already begun the transformation process. In addition to the three facilitated case study sessions, there are ten professional development sessions built around 3 themes, each with an eye towards helping our Members succeed in this changing landscape.

  • Enhancing leadership skills
  • Service planning approaches
  • Service delivery approaches.

It has been a tremendous year at ONESTEP and we are proud of the work done by our new CEO, Dr. Trina Foster. She has built a strong team and together they have made a commitment to keeping our Members informed and engaged around the transformation process. Trina has travelled across the province providing community presentations, organizational reviews, and community conversation facilitation to anyone who is interested. We are grateful for her dedication and commitment.

As the sector undergoes transformation, it is important to remember the support provided by our Members to move individuals through the employment and training services system. Your work is inspiring.  Whether it is helping persons with disabilities, displaced workers, or employers finding the right person, these are impactful, meaningful endeavours and we are honored to continue to be your support Network.

As always, ONESTEP remains a partner in research, a builder of capacity, a voice for the sector.

Welcome to Perspectives!
